Smilo Bottle Brush

November 27, 2017

GREAT:  A great bottle brush is key when you are bottle feeding, whether with formula or breastmilk.  You always want to make sure that your baby is drinking out of the cleanest bottle possible.  As a mom, you want that bottle brush to be easy to use, easy to clean and help you out rather than making the process more difficult.  This is exactly what you get with the Smilo bottle brush.  I have gone through a lot of bottle brushes throughout the last two years and originally would always get a brush with a sponge on the end of it, but always ended up regretting that decisions a couple months in.  The sponge would get warped and would just feel dirty no matter what I did to clean it.  I loved that this brush didn’t have the sponge on it, but rather soft and pliable silicone bristles.  The bristles allow you to thoroughly clean your bottles without scratching.  What is even better is that the brush is so easy to clean, you can just throw it right in the dishwasher and you have a brand new brush.  The silicone is also incredibly durable which makes this a one-time brush purchase rather than a new brush every couple of months.  I also love that when I pull the brush out of the bottle it doesn’t splash water back at me making a mess everywhere.  The silicone bristles clean the bottle but are easy to get in and out while keeping the water in the sink and not all over you.  The design of the brush doesn’t scream baby and can be used long after you are done with bottles since it is gentle enough to be used on wine glasses which we all know is a win in my book.

GOOD:  The bottle is made out of food-grade silicone meaning you have a safe product that both you and your baby can feel good about.  Since the bottle is made of only silicone it makes it super easy to travel with when you go out of town.  Since you don’t have a sponge or standard bristles you don’t have to wait for it to dry, just wipe it off with a towel and you are good to throw it into your bag.  You get the brush for $8.99 which is a little more expensive than most bottle brushes you will find; however, given the fact that you won’t need to buy a new brush every couple months you will definitely save yourself some money in the long run.

BAD:  The head of the brush is a little small which initially I wasn’t a huge fan of; however, as I have used it more and more I don’t mind the smaller size of the head as it easily fits into any bottle.  The smaller size of the bottle also allows me to get into any nook and cranny making you able to get the perfect clean every time.   It also doesn’t come with a nipple brush; however, I have found that a majority of bottles, cups, straw replacements come with small brushes so this isn’t a big deal for me.  I also don’t really use the nipple brush and I hand wash all my bottles – I have found using my finger is easier.  I’m also pretty sure I have 10 nipple brushes in my drawers right now, but if you are a new parent and this is one of your first purchases it is important to note that there is no nipple brush.

UGLY:  I don’t have anything ugly to say about this product.  I have thoroughly enjoyed using it and haven’t had any of the usual annoyances that I experienced with other brushes while using this one.  For me it is a must have.
