GREAT: My husband and I love eating out and when we had kids we didn’t want that to change. Once Christian was sitting at the table with us I wanted something that would be able to entertain him for a longer period of time, just in case he was over being at the dinner table. Enter the Sassy Wonder Wheel – this has been a life saver for us on more than one occasion. I don’t go to a restaurant without taking this with me. Christian was obsessed with this from 6 months – 15 months and Thomas also fell in love with it at 6 months and is still currently obsessed with it. It has entertained them at many lunches and dinners allowing everyone to enjoy their meal. Christian has always been fascinated with things that spin, so the fact that the main wheel, in addition to the inner three pieces, spin makes this the perfect toy. Thomas gets easily entranced by the bright colors and spinning pieces, but also enjoys just trying to eat it. The bottom has a strong suction so that it can stick to most surfaces, though it needs to be a flat, smooth surface in order to work properly. We always bring our Fast Chair with an attached tray to restaurants for Thomas to sit in so we never have to worry about this not sticking to the restaurant’s table. Seriously, if you frequent restaurants or public outings this is a must have as it will keep your baby happy and entertained.
The spinning wheel encourages baby to reach, tug and bat which helps strengthen hand-eye coordination. There are colorful beads trapped within the clear structure which helps baby connect the sound to sight. The spinning center pieces provide a higher level of visual tracking and there are multiple texture points on the wheel which encourage baby’s tactile exploration.
GOOD: The price is a steal, it is easy to travel with and can be used to entertain in so many different situations. You can get this for $5.99 - $8.99 depending on where you purchase from which is incredible considering the high quality and hours of entertainment you will get out of it. It is a relatively small toy and I can easily throw it into my diaper bag to take with me to restaurants or when I travel. You can use this at restaurants, on highchairs, on the tray table of your stroller, and even stick it to the airplane window to keep your kid busy and happy.
BAD: The main wheel is textured which is a plus as it encourages tactile exploration; however, it does allow for food and dirt to get stuck in-between the bumps making it harder to clean. I have found that if you wipe it down after each meal it stays pretty clean; however, if you let it slide you will most likely find dried puree stuck in the little cracks and it is harder to get out once it has hardened in there.
UGLY: I have nothing ugly to say – this is a must have for parents – especially if you like to eat out. I don’t know what we would have done without it!
