The NaviGate

July 18, 2017

GREAT:  This is the most amazing travel / temporary baby gate I’ve yet to see on the market.  It is compact and lightweight (less than 5 pounds and folds down to 27x5” when not in use) making it the perfect travel companion.  As you can see, I packed it in my suitcase on my recent trip to Jackson Hole as the stairs at my parent’s place is a death trap.  I didn’t want to have to hover around my oldest the entire trip and worry the whole time I left him with the babysitter to do a hike.  This gave me peace of mind throughout the entire trip.  It is quick and easy to set up (talking under 2 minutes) and kept my son off the stairs, without damaging the walls.  I didn’t have to worry about what the stairs were made of or what shape the stairs were as I knew this would work with everything.  You can use this for any opening between 28 – 45 inches across and irregularly shaped surfaces such as banisters and crown molding are welcome – this thing doesn’t scare easy.  I’ve yet to find an opening that I haven’t been able to safely secure with this thing.

GOOD:  Safety first!  The Navigate system surpasses national standards and is certified by both the Juvenile Product Manufacturers Association (JPMA) and the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) as secure and safe.  The gate is able to withstand up to 50lbs of pressure, which keeps the tiny humans that we are raising unable to dislodge it.

BAD:  My one wish for this would be a way to open it to be able to walk through it rather than having to climb over it.  Not sure it would be possible and still keep the amazing feature of being so compact with the ability to be used almost anywhere, but if I could make a change that would be it.

UGLY:  Absolutely nothing – this is an awesome product.
