Aquascale 3-in-1 Infant Bath Tub

June 26, 2017

GREAT:  My baby is held nice and secure in place without fear of him wiggling face down into the water.  With my first son I'm pretty sure I was buying a new bath tub contraption every couple weeks.  I would find one I thought I loved but a couple weeks later he was wiggling his way down into the water, or he looked uncomfortable, or had too much room, etc.  It was a never-ending cycle of bathtubs in my house - until I found the Aquascale.  I was hesitant at first because it seemed a little gimmicky to me, but this thing has been amazing!

The area where you place your baby is fantastic.  The back part is an anti-slip pad which actually works.  I've used this for my second son as young as 12 days old - the minute his circumcision and belly button were healed he was in this tub and he didn't move one bit.  As they get older and wiggle more the tub still holds them perfectly in place without fear of them rolling over into the water or sliding down into the water.

GOOD:  Features.  While I first thought it a little gimmicky it does have some good features such as water temperature and weight.  Most first time moms that I know are always worried about whether or not their baby is getting enough to eat.  You wait for those early doctor appointments hoping your baby has gained enough weight - this allows you to weigh your baby with or without water in the tub.  Now I don't find the weight 100% accurate compared to my doctor's scale but I am able to see that the scale is going up and that my baby is gaining weight like he should.  The second is the water temperature - again, as a first time mom you worry if its too hot or too cold - you are freaking Goldilocks trying to get the temperature just right.  This helps you with that as it tells you the temperature right on the display.

BAD:  The one issue I have with this scale is that the water doesn't fully drain out of the tub, I always have to dump it over after it has "drained" in order to get that last remaining water out.  I would love for all the water to leave the tub down the drain on its own because even when I dump it over I have to dump it in multiple directions in order for the water to fully drain out.

UGLY:  Price - it is $69.99 which is a little more than its main infant tub competitor the 4Moms Infant Tub.  For me, the extra $10 is worth it as I didn't like my 4Moms Infant Tub.  I usually am a big fan of 4Moms so maybe I got a faulty product but when I removed from the box it appeared cheaply made and looked as if the pieces were going to break off at any second.  My newborn also would slip down or just look uncomfortable sitting in it as it wasn't as secure as the Aquascale.  I'm OK with my child soaking in the same bath water as he isn't in there for a super long time, but if this is a huge issue for you then this tub is not for you.
